Everybody throws stuff away and pretty much never gives it another thought.

But the fact is, there really is no, “away.”

The fact is, all that trash in the landfills across the world doesn’t degrade. The newspapers from 1982 are still legible, the toilets still function, and all the other stuff that was tossed in there is in pretty much exactly the same condition it was in on the day it was thrown, “away.”

That’s because there is no, “away.” It’s right here, with us, in our back yard – or maybe somebody else’s backyard. But it’s here, nonetheless.

Generally speaking, 200 liters of seawater contains 30 to 50 pieces of microplastics (the most polluted sample was as many as 180 pieces) - which, figuratively speaking, would mean that a swimmer would swim through pieces of plastic floating in the water with his hand. 🤯
